Best Practice Week Round-up
A week of webinars aiming to improve safeguarding adults practice has come to an end. The webinars, organised by the Newcastle Safeguarding Adults Board’s Improving Practice Committee, involved a variety of speakers who have discussed a wide range of topics. These have reflected the key principles of safeguarding adults (empowerment, protection, prevention, accountability, partnership, and proportionality) as well as some of the key issues linked to safeguarding adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
The eight webinars have covered:
- Advocacy;
- Coercive control;
- Cultural competency;
- Adversity awareness;
- Poverty and financial inclusion;
- Prevent (one aspect of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy);
- Safeguarding carers; and
- Social prescribing and InformationNOW.
Over 200 people have accessed the webinars from numerous professions and organisations. This demonstrates the commitment of those working and volunteering in Newcastle to learn more about subjects which will help them in their day-to-day roles to keep adults with care and support needs safe.
