Public Health have shared resources as Northumbria Police are aware of a small number of incidents involving vapes and unknown substances. Due to the concern in relation to vapes potentially containing illegal substances they have produced a slide deck covering the key messages and additional resources available. Educational settings can access a series of lessons within Pol-Ed that can be linked to substance misuse and vapes to assist PSHE delivery.

Available Support

In Newcastle staff, children and young adults can be supported by dedicated services who offer a range of ways to engage. This service can also be access to support staff queries and gain further information.

Newcastle Treatment and Recovery (NTaR) – Children and Youngs Adults Drug and Alcohol Service: 

The service can be accessed by staff for support, information, queries and specialist treatment.

NTaR delivers a range of support for children and young people through a dedicated young people’s team, offering a range of age-appropriate interventions.

PROPS

Support young people who are worried about someone else’s drug or alcohol use. Through PROPS Young Person’s Project, they help young people, aged between 11-18 in Newcastle Upon Tyne and 5-18 in North Tyneside, to get the support they need.
