The Police and Crime Commissioner is making £100k available to build on work that supports safer streets and stronger communities. Micro grants of £1K and larger grants of £5K are to be made available to fund a range of projects including those that tackle hate crime or divert people away from anti-social behaviours.
To be able to apply organisations must have a safeguarding policy that meets the following criteria:

Your Safeguarding Policy must:
- If your organisation is working with vulnerable adults, they must have a vulnerable adults safeguarding policy.
- If the organisation is working with children and young people under 18 years old, they must have a child safeguarding policy.
- Policy is in the organisation’s own name.
- Clear instructions and process in place on how to recognise, respond to, report and record a safeguarding concern.
- Have a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in their organisation.
- Reference to relevant statutory guidance.
- Reference to policies and procedures of local authority safeguarding partnership or safeguarding children or adults board.
- Provide safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers: a. Training must be appropriate to the nature of work that the organisation delivers. b. Training must be refreshed regularly. c. Training should cover both safeguarding best prac/ce and a briefing on the organisation’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all people working with children and vulnerable adults are subject to Disclosure & Barring Service checks. This includes all staff, management committee, trustees or volunteers who have direct access to children.
- Periodical reviews of safeguarding policies and procedures, learning from any serious incident or ‘near miss’.
